About ProFightingFans.com
ProFightingFans.com is proud of where we came from and what we have accomplished in the past several years of covering the MMA world. Not only have our staff of MMA writers been credentialed at UFC, Strikeforce and Bellator events, we regularly cover events like Titan FC on HDNet, the NAAFS on SportsTime Ohio and more.
ProFightingFans.com got it’s start as The Triangle Choke, a MMA blog started by our site’s first Editor in Chief, Scott Dryden. Dryden spent years looking out for the best interests of fighters while trying to bring them positive attention through The Triangle Choke blog which you can read more about below. While Dryden is no longer involved in the MMA industry, his vision and strong set of ethics and principles remain a major piece of how ProFightingFans.com is run on a daily basis.
The Triangle Choke
The Triangle Choke started as an outlet to disseminate Mixed-Martial Arts information in a method that would fairly and accurately portray the sport’s great athletes. The column was presented to several local newspapers with the initial goal to interview and cover local fighters and provide results on larger promotions such as the UFC on a bi-weekly basis. With some skepticism, two newspapers in Southwestern Ohio, The Peoples Defender and The News Democrat, ran the column. The column quickly received national attention featuring interviews with stars such as Matt Hughes and Rich Franklin. Quickly, the column grew in popularity to the extent that its writer, Scott Dryden, had more content than the newspapers could accommodate. From there TheTriangleChoke.com was born.
Scott Dryden’s mission grew and changed as he became more knowledgeable of the sport and the efforts of its fighters. The goal went from simply providing results and opinions to spending time in gyms, getting to know the fighters and most importantly telling their stories. Dryden felt it was important to give fans a glimpse inside the lives of some of the greatest competitors in the world.
The Triangle Choke grew in popularity featuring interviews with referee John McCarthy, Ring Announcer Bruce Buffer, Boxing Trainer Freddie Roach, MMA trainer Rob Radford and of course a host of interviews with some of the sport’s biggest stars. In addition, TTC has featured photos and videos from MMA gyms: Team Vision, Team G-Force, Cincy MMA & Fitness, Boxing4Fitness, Son of Siam, Team Gurgel, American Kickboxing Academy and Sacan Martial Arts. The Triangle Choke has been on press row providing live coverage of several promotions including: Bellator, ICF, MMA Big Show, Shine Fights, Strikeforce and the UFC.
Understanding the need for a broader base of readers, The Triangle Choke started to appear on ProFighting-fans.com, a member of the DFN Sports Network, in late 2008. The site grew rapidly and Scott Dryden was quickly promoted to Editor-in-Chief of Pro Fighting Fans. The original principles and mission are still in force just on a broader scale as ProFighting-Fans has grew exponentially providing extensive MMA news and now has writers spanning the entire United States and the United Kingdom. Pro Fighting Fans will focus on the fighters, the fans and the great sport of Mixed Martial Arts itself providing results, predictions, fighter profiles and interviews.
